The Northern Care Alliance is excited to announce a new position based at Salford Royal for an experienced pharmacist to work in a split post across the renal directorate and emergency admission area.
Salford Renal Department acts as the "centre" for the West Sector of Greater Manchester; caring for patients from Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Wigan and Bolton. There is a dedicated inpatient ward for renal patients and the department provides care for several thousand outpatients through dialysis units and outpatient clinics.
The Emergency Admissions Unit is a 55 bedded area with a rapid throughput of patients with a varying array of medical conditions.
You will work alongside other senior pharmacists to provide a comprehensive pharmacist service to both areas with a focus on renal patients within the admission area.
Your proven track record within acute hospital clinical pharmacy along with your clinical diploma and non medical prescribing qualification will give you the background to excel in this position. Experience in renal medicine is desirable but not essential providing you have transferable skills.

Provide a specialist pharmacist service for patients under the care of the renal team.
Provide a comprehensive pharmacist service to the emergency admissions unit.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team. Including ensuring the safe and appropriate use of high cost medicines.
Review of new and existing treatments for the local and Greater Manchester formularies.
Contribute to departmental research and quality improvement activities.
Line management of junior pharmacists and the opportunity to tutor a pharmacist on their postgraduate clinical diploma course.
Participation will be expected in the departmental weekend and on-call rotas.
