Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their offshore wind developer client with the appointment of an Electrical Systems Engineer.
This represents an excellent opportunity for a Degree qualified Electrical Engineer with grid experience to further develop their career in an entrepreneurial company.
Electrical Systems Engineer
Main Accountabilities:
* Electrical power systems lead for electrical system modelling and design.
* Apply the UK grid code to power system design.
* Manage specification writing and consultancy work scopes for power system study requirements of the offshore windfarm to grid connection.
* Support the development of Engineering tender requirements for electrical equipment.
* Work with electrical cable, plant and wind farm engineers as well as electrical protection and control system engineers during design stages.
* Explain complex power system models and results to the team to progress the design.
* Support the Electrical Engineering Manager with monthly design reviews, power systems-related decision making, engineering risk management, budgeting and programme.
* Support the Grid Manager in regular engagements with NESO/SSEN to address interaction issues, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
* Assess and respond to regulatory and policy changes.
* Support project technical engineering meetings with other engineering stakeholders both internally within TWP and externally.
Minimum Requirements
Please note the following:
* Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
* Experience in power systems engineering, including modelling wind turbine generators and transmission systems.
* Power system analysis using software tools for static and dynamic studies on generation systems connecting to the GB grid.
* Understanding of the GB grid code and modelling standards for connecting offshore generators to the GB grid.
* Knowledge of GB grid regulatory frameworks and policy change mechanisms.
* Experience working with OEMs on modelling requirements for grid code compliance.
* Familiarity with relevant standards for primary electrical plant for modelling purposes.
* Practical experience using modelling tools such as DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSSE, PSCAD.
* Application of CDM to projects in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Detail-oriented and systematic approach to design.
Additionally, you will need:
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
* Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
* Willingness to travel where required.
