The Role – Engineering Purchaser
As our Engineering Purchaser you will be responsible for sourcing, procuring and managing the purchasing of materials, equipment and services needed for our engineering function and projects; ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness and efficiency to meet the requirements of the Company.
Responsibilities
1. Utilise technical procurement skills to facilitate engineering works and projects, balancing quality, delivery and cost
2. Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies, regulations and legal requirements
3. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on factors such as cost, quality and technical capabilities
4. Negotiate with suppliers/ contract whilst building strong relationships
5. Work effectively with different departments to understand planning, project needs and technical specifications – using technical expertise to assist in decision making
6. Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues
7. Management of the internal purchasing system and adhere to purchasing procedure
8. Working closely with the Stores Department for stock levels and goods inwards
Essential Experience required for this role
1. Extensive experience in a technical procurement role
2. Possess a strong understanding of engineering principles and technical specifications, allowing informed purchasing decisions
3. Experience in supplier selection and development
4. Strong communication skills
