We are seeking an industrious and dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance Department in the industrial/manufacturing industry based in Liverpool. The role will require a strong attention to detail, excellent numeracy skills and the ability to handle complex data. Description Assist the Financial Controller and Management Accountant with month-end reporting tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Prepare and submit VAT returns for both HMRC and BTW (Belgian VAT), ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Perform control account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies. Manage cash flow by liaising with internal Group Treasury and external financial institutions to address any issues or discrepancies. Compile and submit Intrastat reports and EC Sales lists for HMRC and BTW in line with reporting deadlines. Process invoice runs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounts payable and receivable functions. Coordinate and execute payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate supplier payments. Profile A successful Assistant Accountant should have: Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex data. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to ethical behaviour and compliance with laws and regulations.
