The Role The Site Accountant will play a key part in the preparation of all Sofina Cookstown accounts, taking ownership of the general accounting and internal controls, including journal entry preparation, intercompany reconciliations and month-end closing activities in line with Group policies. Key Accountabilities Ensure robust financial controls and accurate, timely analysis of site financial reporting. Own and embed rigor in daily, weekly, and monthly financial controls. Complete month-end postings and balance sheet reconciliations. Assist the Site Head of Finance with end-of-year audit file and ad hoc group reporting requirements. Drive continuous improvement of finance and operational reporting cycles. Support cost reduction initiatives, including the C10 workstream. Perform daily and weekly reporting of variable overhead, transport costs, and other overhead costs. Prepare Authorisation For Expenditure (AFE) applications for submission to the Group. Maintain effective communication with operational colleagues to ensure high-quality, first-time-right applications. Skills And Experience Required Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post-qualification experience. Strong IT and systems knowledge; capable of implementing financial software projects. Experience in FMCG finance, ideally within the meat industry. Skilled in integrated financial and management information systems (ERP and yield control systems). Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting at all business levels. Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills. Ability to work within established frameworks, handle pressure, and take ownership of decisions and account plans. Detail-oriented with accurate reporting skills. Proficient in IT.
