Quality assuring court reports and attending court/ PLO Meetings. · Directly manage the reception of referrals, make timely decisions within statutory time limits and consult with Section Manager or other managers on Child Protection cases and other cases/matters of significant concern. · To be responsible for the oversight and governance of case management through the supervision and management of level 2 & 3 Social Workers; ensuring the production of quality assessments which identify need and outcome focussed care and support plans. · To drive cases to meet the child’s needs promptly within the prescribed timescales and to ensure that children are properly protected and supported within the community and within the care system. · To monitor supervisee’s performance and collate performance data to meet statutory duties, service evaluation and planning. · To assist the Section Manager manage the delivery of needs led services to children and families. Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific 1. Assist Section Manager with delivery of social work services and deputise for Section Manager when they are unavailable. 2. Assist Section Manager’s management of team budgets and authorise spending according to service criteria, legislation and financial regulations. 3. Be familiar with the key policies and procedures of the department and with key legislation and guidance which provides the framework for delivery of services to children and families. 4. Take responsibility for management of casework and ensuring social work practice complies with statutory responsibilities. 5. Audit case files under the Quality Assurance Framework and ensure any actions plans created are progressed. 6. Be responsible for the formal supervision of a number of social workers and provide informal supervision when required to the wider team, ensuring that supervision discussion and decision making is recorded. 7. Complete Performance Development Reviews for staff. 8. Support and mentor social workers undertaking unfamiliar pieces of work, joint work complex pieces of work with social workers to support staff development and chair complex casework meetings. 9. Manage and monitor S47 enquiries and investigations through to completion. 10. Take responsibility for ensuring that Assessments, Care and Support Plans, Statutory Reviews, Court Reports and other time specific tasks are completed within time scale and are of good quality 11. Ensure planned and outcome focused service delivery and that interventions involve children and families fully. 12. Attend training and seminars designed to develop the personal and professional expertise of the team manager post and undertake to disseminate learning. 13. Develop good working relationships with other agencies to assist with the delivery of needs led holistic services to children and families. 14. Read and act upon email information daily and commit to IT training and the updating of computer and IT skills. 15. Provide written responses and information to other agencies as necessary. 16. Promote anti – discriminatory practices and act in a non-oppressive way towards colleagues and service users. 17. Exercise responsibility under the Health & Safety At Work Act and respond appropriately in relation to these regulations. 18.
