We currently have an exciting new opportunity to join our highly valued inhouse legal team as a qualified UK solicitor or barrister. This new role is open to all suitably qualified candidates and likely to suit an individual who has a strong track record criminal corporate prosecution and defence work. What you'll be doing: As an Assistant Environmental Regulation Solicitor, you will be primarily responsible for advising the company and bringing prosecutions against third parties who mis-use our sewer network. You will assess the credibility of evidence, prioritise claims and identifying those to prosecute, and conduct the advocacy at court hearings. You will also assist the business with defending environmental prosecutions and other interventions by the regulators. You will play a key part in helping the business deliver on its zero pollutions strategy, as well as its wider purpose. You will have the support of the wider litigation and regulation team who are experienced and have a firm understanding of Anglian Water and the regulatory environment in which it operates. A UK qualified solicitor or barrister with significant relevant criminal prosecution / defence experience ideally relating to corporate prosecutions / defence Be able to work autonomously, not be afraid to have difficult conversations with customers/defendants and confident in advocacy Strong team player with the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of business colleagues with a firm emphasis on stake holder engagement and management. a confident advocate preferably with recent advocacy experience Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills IT literate and confident in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint Full Driving Licence and access to vehicle Inclusion at Anglian Water: Join us and make a difference.
