The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Waste Manager. Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and waste management? Do you have a strong waste background and a desire to make a positive impact?
As our Technical Waste Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading your team to ensure the safe and efficient management of hazardous waste while maintaining a strong relationship with environmental agencies.
* Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of Technical Waste Assessors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
* Technical Expertise: Utilise your in-depth knowledge of waste management regulations, industry best practices, and Safetykleen's processes to provide technical guidance and support to both internal teams and external clients.
* Environmental Agency Relationship: Foster strong relationships with local and national environmental agencies, serving as the primary point of contact. Collaborate with agency representatives to understand and comply with regulatory requirements, facilitate inspections, and maintain open lines of communication.
* Waste Characterisation: Conduct thorough waste characterisation assessments to determine the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal methods for various waste streams, ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Compliance Assurance: Monitor and evaluate waste management practices to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain a high standard of compliance.
* Training and Education: Work with our Training Manager to develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and clients on waste management practices, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Stay up to date with industry advancements and communicate relevant information to the team.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance operational efficiency while maintaining compliance.
* Customer Support: Provide technical expertise and support to customers regarding waste management solutions, addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.

Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry / Bio Chemistry or other Science Degrees considered.
* Strong knowledge of hazardous waste regulations.
* Proven experience in waste assessment or waste management.
* DGSA and WAMITAB qualification desirable.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
