About the Role Our People Partners at Ooni are embedded in our organisational structures and tasked with getting to know exactly what teams and individuals need to succeed and thrive at work. The number one ask of the job? No surprises. You know what a department is going to need in terms of people and resources in 12 months time and are working with the leader to get there. You know what makes them tick and how to advocate for them, as well as how to hold them accountable. This role is a great fit for someone looking for a blend of sleeves up/hands on work designing and implementing interventions to make your partnered business areas as effective as possible. You will also collaborate with a couple of brilliant peers in People Partnering to identify organisational trends and contribute to Ooni’s overall People strategy. Our People team is small but ambitious which means there’s plenty of opportunities for company-wide project and improvement work alongside having full responsibility for the whole employee lifecycle and strategic alignment of your business areas. Ooni has a hybrid approach to work, with 3 days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) in person. Most of your in-office time would be spent at our office at Edinburgh Park, but for this role we also need you to spend some time (at least 1 day per week) at our Product hub in Broxburn, West Lothian. no, they didn’t write this. What you’ll do: Partner with leaders and managers in your business area to understand their activities and long term plans and playbooks Help to identify people needs (roles, resources, skills, development needs) to deliver on these plans Build brilliant relationships allowing you to act as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders and managers in your business areas with regards to their leadership style and practice Enable autonomy and accountability from leaders and managers Be the “glue” which pulls individual and team contributions back to our vision, purpose and company strategy Read the room; function as a cultural barometer for your business areas and level up team engagement Act as the key point of contact for ER needs in your business areas - discipline, performance management, grievances - and manage these cases with the right combination of rigour, kindness and compliance while balancing business and individual needs Maintain people/succession planning processes for your business areas to support long term visibility of people moves and changes, and ensure strong team structures are built Support the production of business cases and process implementation for hiring, promotions and reward benchmarking Ensure policy and process roll out runs smoothly in your teams Build and maintain up to date employment law knowledge across all relevant regions Support feedback processes for your teams and enable brilliant relationships between team members and managers Contribute to wider People team projects and initiatives across L&D, DE&I, engagement and more. A bit about you: You’re probably already working in a People Partner or HR Manager role. We might consider a step up candidate from a People Generalist or Specialist role in the right type of business, but we’re a small team with a lot to do which means prior experience would be really beneficial. This role will be responsible for partnering with our product design and engineering teams, so any experience with similar functions would be beneficial (but not essential). You’ll be a driven, tenacious and commercially savvy People person who understands that our team exists to facilitate the business’s success (which is in turn dependent on the capability, engagement and wellbeing of our people). We’re not fussed about degrees or CIPD membership so long as you’ve got good experience in relevant roles and can demonstrate that you’re a problem solver with a willingness to test and learn as you go, and get stuck into making progress.
