Technical Sales Engineer
Location: Worcester
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Schedule: Monday to Friday. No weekends
Background:
The company designs and manufactures engine, e-motor, power train, vehicle, and component test systems at their brand-new facility in Worcester. Founded in 1982, the company is undergoing a period of growth to meet the demand of its global client base. They supply test systems ranging from new control and data acquisition systems to turnkey test cell projects, including dynamometer, engine/test piece conditioning systems, and test cell ventilation and services systems. Customers include automotive manufacturers, race teams, industrial equipment manufacturers, and more recently, the shift to E-Vehicle and hydrogen technologies. Approximately 40% of turnover is in the U.K., with the balance in India, USA, mainland Europe, and China.
The Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Sales & Applications, the role involves developing fully costed quotations and technical proposals, as well as cultivating both commercial and technical relationships with new and existing clients. Responsibilities include identifying new clients and generating new leads and opportunities. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess technical sales experience, and be looking to advance their career. A minimum qualification of HNC/HND in an engineering discipline and over 5 years' experience in an engineering-related industry is preferred. An automotive background would be an advantage but is not essential.
Technical Expertise:
Develop a deep understanding of the company's products or services and stay updated on industry trends. Innovative solutions are key to the company's success as a bespoke solutions provider; this is not a catalogue sales role. Responsibilities include compiling costs for standard products and updating or creating the library of technical data sheets for standard products, accessories, services, and support data. Presentation and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Customer Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams to understand customer requirements and propose appropriate solutions. Attend trade shows and be prepared to travel throughout the UK and potentially overseas. Participate in sales meetings with colleagues, providing technical support to assist in closing deals. Assist in preparing technical proposals, quotes, and responses to RFQs (Request for Quotations). Address customer enquiries and concerns related to product functionality, integration, and technical specifications. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their business needs and challenges. Visit customer sites for sales and promotional purposes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams, including Sales, Service, Projects, and Production, to ensure a cohesive approach to customer engagement. Collaborate with Engineering and Standard Product departments to keep the technical database up to date.
Personal Characteristics & Skills:
Ability to plan and organise (self & others). Technically minded with a solution-driven work ethic. Innovative thinker. Commercially aware. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). Consistently deliver to deadlines. Ability to work on own initiative. Strong working knowledge of MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and industry-standard CRM packages.
Experience:
Technical Sales: 3 years (preferred)
