Payments & Settlements Analyst (1-10 PM working hours)
Description:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-orientated Payments and Settlement Analyst to join our payments team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, experience with payment processing systems, and a deep understanding of settlement procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Raising payments across multiple entities using a TMS system and online banking portals, whilst ensuring all payments are accurately raised and released in a timely manner.
2. Monitor and reconcile daily payment transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payments, settlements, and resolve any queries, i.e. Recalls, Tracers, and Rejections both internally and externally.
4. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate smooth payment processes.
5. Analyse payment data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
6. Building and maintaining macro and other Excel spreadsheets for reconciliations.
7. Act as the key contact for payments and develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices related to payments and settlements.
9. Ensure that LMAX’s principles and controls for risk management, TCF, and CASS are adhered to and highlight any potential risks of breaches.
10. Work with Broker Operations teams to ensure all client-related queries are dealt with thoroughly and provide cover as required.
11. Maintain a sound understanding of the risks and controls associated with their role and utilise this knowledge to follow and enforce all agreed procedures to ensure risks are minimised across the payment processes and within the team.
12. Work covering Monday to Friday with occasional weekend on-call and UK bank holiday work.
13. Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
2. Proven experience in payments, settlements, or financial analysis role.
3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other software applications.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in all work activities.
8. Knowledge of payment processing systems.
