Job Description and Key Responsibilities
Due to funding criteria, apprenticeships are available to the following:
1. All 16-19 year olds
2. 20-29 year olds with a disability
3. 20-29 year old who are care experienced
As an apprentice Carpenter and Joiner, you will gain valuable on the job experience whilst working alongside a qualified tradesperson. You will also attend City Building (Glasgow) LLP’s Training College on a block release basis to complete SVQ units such as Workshop Practice, Woodworking Machine Skills, Power Tool Skills, Internal and External Partition Systems, Window Construction, Straight Flight Stairs, Timber Framed Construction and Door Construction. An apprenticeship with City Building (Glasgow) LLP gives you the best of both worlds in that you attend college on a block release programme to learn your trade as well as gaining on-site practical experience on live City Building (Glasgow) LLP projects. You could be working within a building site, customers' homes, public buildings, retrofitting renewable technologies, new build schools, new build housing, refurbishment projects and community projects. As well as gaining a vast amount of experience, you will ‘earn as you learn’ meaning you will be paid a wage for learning your trade. Successful applicants will be given full support throughout their apprenticeship and are expected to adhere to existing work practices, methods, procedures and undertake relevant training and development activities, as well as carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisors. You are expected to adhere to City Building (Glasgow) LLP’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.

Education, Qualifications and Training
City Building (Glasgow) LLP does not look for formal qualifications in their applicants however to make your learning journey easier it would be helpful to you if you have any of the following:
* Maths, English, Physics, Technical Subject (Electrician, Lift Engineer)
* Maths, English, Science, Technical Subject (All other Trades)
Work towards and achieve SCQF Level 6/7 and Professional Development Award where applicable in your chosen trade. To learn and follow existing working practices, methods and procedures. To undertake and participate in relevant training and development activities. To be involved in the full range of construction activities including new build, refurbishment and repairs and maintenance. Comply with City Building (Glasgow) LLP’s Health and Safety Policy. To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisors.
Additional Requirements
All candidates must be able to work at heights. Colour vision test is required to be undertaken and passed. Please highlight any colour vision defects at application stage. All candidates must carry out a numeracy and literacy test as part of the recruitment process. Any holidays should be highlighted at the earliest opportunity.
