Client Manager, Corporate Pensions
This is a senior role in our Corporate Pensions business reporting to the Head of Corporate Pensions.
Client Managers are responsible for the leadership and maintenance of senior level client relationships for our corporate pension business - both in the public and private sectors. We are focused on supporting our clients and customers who entrust us with in excess of £11bn Funds under Management.
The successful candidate will be accountable for a defined set of clients and provide coaching to other team members. They will support the business with the retention of clients and the enhancement of relationships through providing leadership in meeting client needs and requirements. They will attend client meetings (both virtual and face to face), provide governance oversight and pensions expertise, and be the central point of contact for the client both internally and externally.
The ideal person will be a credible and well-presented individual with significant client management experience and workplace pensions expertise in Trust and Contract type schemes. Great attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are critical. Key Responsibilities for this role:
1. Proactively defend and successfully retain clients by developing strong relationships at an organisational leadership level. Provide Clients and Customers with an exceptional experience of M&G.
2. Leadership of business to business relationships with employee benefit consultants (EBC's) and other aligned 3rd parties.
3. Support the business with ad hoc communication and represent the needs of clients and customers internally.
4. Successfully engage clients with digital adoption initiatives and manage delivery of improved data flows both at client level.
5. Manage scheme and client relationships through regular dialogue and provide clients with key governance information, investment updates and operational escalation as required.
6. Represent the customer in all interactions both internally and externally.
7. Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customer outcomes and a reduction in M&G's operational risk.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Outstanding relationship skills including the ability to manage challenging conversations, show empathy and negotiate within strict parameters.
2. Developed knowledge of pensions industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals in the same field.
3. Strong understanding of workplace pensions products including Stakeholder schemes, GPP, MPP, AVCs and investment only.
4. Understanding of the Statements of Principle and Code of Practice.
5. Strong knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks.
6. Significant experience of working within a distribution, sales or relationship management environment.
7. Material experience of working in a face-to-face client role at a senior (board) level is essential.
8. Ability to work to specific and short deadlines and manage competing priorities.
9. Excellent collaboration skills in order to build relationships internally and influence the business on behalf of your clients and customers.
10. Excellent presentation skills both in development and delivery of both positive and negative messages.
11. Working experience of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
12. Knowledge of Salesforce.com and timely/accurate updating of client interactions.
