Description We are looking for a Business Data Scientist with approximately 2 years of industry experience to improve all aspects of how we handle, manipulate, analyse and deliver data. The role will act as the go-to person to support the entirety of Chubb Global Markets (CGM) and will be based within the Underwriting Strategy & Risk team in the London office. We are a data heavy team that utilises multiple data formats across a range of platforms. Current processes are outdated and cumbersome. The role is varied with plenty of scope for creative thinking, product ownership and problem solving. Your Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to: To deliver strategic projects involving better, more efficient use of data across Chubb Global Markets. To advise underwriting and act as a conduit between central data and technology functions as they advance digitisation. This includes aligning the business needs with the future state of data warehousing and reporting. You will turn raw data from a variety of different sources, in different formats into meaningful information that underwriters can use to improve all elements of the business. This is a creative process in which you will often have a lot of freedom and responsibility. You will work closely with underwriters to automate repetitive data inputting and analysis tasks and build illustrative dashboards. A strong business acumen and outgoing nature are key qualities for this work. Apply machine learning theory to building predictive models and NLP tools. You will work with internal and external analytics teams to improve underwriting reporting, process efficiency, and integrate other systems into dashboards or similar, both from wider CGM teams and the overall Chubb network You will conduct in depth reviews of our current data structures and processes. Qualifications What skills & experience are required? Technical University degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics or similar quantitative field. Programming skills: strong Python necessary. Strong proven mathematical and statistical background. Exposure to Insurance industry / relevant project experience (2 years) Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence knowledge (preferable) Experience in using reporting tools / dashboards such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar (preferable) Communication Present results using clear and engaging language to multiple stakeholders. The ability to summarise large sets of data into relevant and key business metrics for members of Executive management. The ability to communicate data driven insights to non-technical audiences. Visualisation: translate and simplify logical and mathematical concepts used in algorithms and data analysis. Curious and passionate about using algorithms to solve problems and enthuse others to see the benefit of your work. Role Development Take ownership for the team’s data science strategy. Evaluate new and emerging technologies especially regarding the application of Generative AI. Build relationships with wider data teams within Chubb. What can you expect in return?
