South Wirral High School is a co-educational foundation secondary school and sixth form located in Eastham, Merseyside, England. The school prides itself on its community ties, working closely with nearby primary schools to help with students' transition to high school. This commitment is shown in our motto "Raising Aspiration in Partnership with Families and the Community". We focus on the whole educational experience, aiming for success in examinations and other aspects of school life. This includes sports, the arts and as contributors to our community. The person appointed will join an energetic and creative leadership team with an unswerving commitment to ensure that every student achieves their goals, whatever their circumstances. The successful candidate will have responsibility for behaviour and attitudes as a school key performance indicator. They will have significant experience in this area and will be able to evidence clear whole school impact in the areas of behaviour, attitudes and attendance
Specific responsibilities will include:
* Strategic Leadership and Quality Assurance of the Pastoral System
* Developing and Implementing Behaviour Policies : Design, promote, and ensure the effective implementation of school-wide behaviour management policies, setting clear expectations for student conduct and maintaining a positive learning environment.
* Monitoring and Addressing Behavioural Issues : Oversee the monitoring of student behaviour, identifying patterns or areas of concern, and implementing strategies to address and improve behaviour, including working with staff, parents, and external agencies when needed.
* Supporting Staff Training : Provide guidance and training for teachers and staff on behaviour management techniques, restorative practices, and conflict resolution, ensuring consistent and fair handling of student behaviour across the school.
* Promoting High Standards of Conduct : Foster a culture of high academic and behavioural standards, ensuring students understand the importance of discipline, respect, and responsibility both in and outside the classroom.
* Managing Detentions, Sanctions, and Rewards : Oversee the implementation of disciplinary actions such as detentions, sanctions, and restorative interventions, while also recognizing and celebrating positive behaviour through rewards systems to reinforce good conduct.
