Position: Year 6 Class Teacher Location: WD6, Hertfordshire Contract Type: Full-Time, Onsite Start Date: 02/12/2024 Salary: Pay to scale, in line with experience and area guidelines About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Year 6 Class Teacher to join a supportive and dynamic team in a well-established primary school in Hertfordshire. The role is available due to the current teacher's unforeseen illness, and we need someone who can confidently take over and continue providing an engaging learning experience for the children. The Year 6 class consists of 29 students, including 2 children with EHCPs (both supported by 1:1 Teaching Assistants) and another student with challenging behaviour who is also receiving additional intervention. The school follows the Hertfordshire behaviour policy, which focuses on positive behaviour management and inclusivity. You will be working closely with the class’s Teaching Assistant and support staff to ensure all students are engaged and receive the necessary support to thrive. As the new Year 6 Class Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that prepare the children for their transition to secondary school, ensuring that their academic, social, and emotional needs are met. Key Responsibilities:
* Lesson Planning & Delivery: Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum, ensuring students are well-prepared for their SATs and secondary school transition.
* Support for Additional Needs: Work closely with the Teaching Assistant and 1:1 TAs to support children with EHCPs and additional needs, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.
* Behaviour Management: Implement and uphold the Hertfordshire behaviour policy to create a positive and respectful classroom environment.
* Intervention & Support: Provide tailored interventions for students with additional learning needs, including those with challenging behaviour.
* Collaboration: Work alongside other teachers, support staff, and the senior leadership team to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
* Communication with Parents: Maintain regular communication with parents to inform them about their child’s progress and areas for development.
* Classroom Management: Ensure the classroom is well-organised, with resources readily available to support the children’s learning and development.

Key Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Attained through a recognised training programme such as PGCE, SCITT, or equivalent.
* Experience in Key Stage 2: A proven track record of delivering successful lessons, particularly in Year 6.
* SEN Experience: Knowledge of inclusive strategies to support children with additional needs, particularly those with EHCPs.
* Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills, able to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
* DBS Check: An Enhanced DBS check will be required for safeguarding purposes.
