The Role:
This is a new onsite role at our Fareham premises, involving engineering test solutions for electro-mechanical products to ensure systems meet requirements. The role encompasses managing the full lifecycle of test engineering, from defining test cases to developing test tools and executing testing. It requires a broad engineering knowledge, creativity, and drive.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
1. Serve as Senior Test Engineer, guiding and supporting Test Engineers.
2. Analyze requirements and conformance specifications to derive test requirements.
3. Plan, design, and communicate test cases for electro-mechanical systems across development and production phases.
4. Manage workload within the Test Engineering team and with external third parties.
5. Oversee closure of workload packages, test reports, and evidence materials.
6. Design test jigs, harnesses, and software for executing test cases, including automation where appropriate.
7. Implement data processing and filtering software to analyze results.
8. Manage internal test facilities and liaise with external test services.
9. Execute tests safely and methodically.
10. Perform fault finding and failure analysis.
11. Document and present results and findings.
12. Hold a relevant engineering degree (HNC or higher).
13. Be competent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
14. Have working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles.
15. Possess software knowledge related to embedded systems and tool chains.
16. Use Microsoft Office proficiently.
17. Have high competence with National Instruments LabView and TestStand.
18. Be experienced in scripting with Python, Visual Basic, C, C++, etc.
19. Have at least 3 years in a test-focused role or test equipment development.
20. Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
21. Be an expert in Verification & Validation processes and tools.
22. Experience working on multi-disciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, software).
23. Excellent knowledge of test equipment and platforms.
24. Experience in data logging and report creation.
25. Be innovative, creative, and technically aware.
26. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
27. Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
28. Ability to coach, mentor, and manage workload of staff.
29. Enthusiastic, driven, and personable.
30. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
31. Formal Mechanical Engineering qualification.
32. National Instruments certified developer.
33. Experience with system engineering and project management tools (EA, DOORS, etc.).
34. Experience in offshore/subsea industries is desirable.
35. Knowledge of product certification, standards, and compliance (CE, DNV).
36. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and data archiving tools.
37. Previous customer-facing experience is a plus.
