What does our People & Culture (HR) Manager do? Our People & Culture (HR) Manager will partner with each of our departments and Senior Management Team to ensure that we have a high performing, engaged team in place for continued success. A strong self-starter, you will consistently look for continuous improvement and opportunities across your remit. As a generalist in this standalone role, you will lead on all aspects of HR, from onboarding and payroll to recruitment and learning & development, while being an ambassador for our culture and values. Working primarily with our UK team in our London office, you’ll also work closely with our China office and our international team members. Responsibilities Providing timely generalist support to the business including administrative paperwork, coaching and counsel, and reporting to facilitate data-led decision-making. Managing a distributed workforce: Including our China office, as well as freelancers and employees in other overseas locations, ensuring consistent HR practices and communication. Overseeing the implementation and integration of new HR tools and technology to streamline HR processes and improve efficiency. Supporting and nurturing company culture: Acting as a culture champion to maintain and enhance a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace environment. Continuous workforce evaluation: Regularly review and assess workforce performance and structure to ensure alignment with current and future business needs. Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and managing HR-related risks proactively. Ownership of our monthly payroll process and the relationship with our third-party provider. Leading on recruitment, including preparation of job descriptions and liaising with our recruitment partners, maintaining high standards from start to finish, and throughout onboarding. Review and maintain our policies ensuring that they are compliant and in line with our culture and values. Proposing, agreeing and executing a People strategy which is aligned with business goals. Managing all employee relations, and coaching managers to allow them to develop their skills in this area. Line management of our Office Manager. Implementing a learning & development strategy. Leading our appraisal process. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is/has An autonomous self-starter, willing to operate on various levels and execute commitments in a timely manner. Experience working as an HR generalist - you're used to high-volume and needing to prioritise. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking. Thorough understanding of UK employment law, with EU employment law being beneficial but not essential. Familiarity with global employment law and the ability to navigate international HR issues would be advantageous. Experience of managing visa sponsorship and knowledge of the associated processes. A trusted advisor - you're a people person who is approachable and demonstrates integrity. Proven ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Experience working with a distributed workforce, including freelancers and employees across different locations. Cultural Competence – you have the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and understand cultural nuances, particularly with our China office. Strong change management skills - as the company is growing and evolving, we need someone who can manage and lead change effectively. CIPD qualified (level 5 or 7) with demonstrable CPD. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Experience of managing an ATS and HRIS (we use TeamTailor and Staffology but aren't looking for experience with those specifically).
