At Leonardo, we are excited to offer an opportunity for a Senior Project Assurance Engineer to join our Radar Quality Assurance Team in Edinburgh. This role is integral to our continued business growth and the delivery of innovative, high-quality products and services to our customers. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Project Managers, Customers, Design/Development teams, and Suppliers to ensure customer requirements are consistently met while driving quality excellence across the entire project lifecycle.

What you’ll do as a Senior Project Assurance Engineer:
1. Integrated Team Collaboration:
Be an essential member of both the Quality Team and the Integrated Project Teams (IPT). Contribute to all aspects of quality, ensuring the success and timely completion of allocated projects.
2. Assurance Activities Delivery:
Lead and manage all assurance activities defined by the IPT, ensuring that they remain relevant and aligned with evolving project demands and requirements.
3. Risk and Opportunity Management:
Stay fully engaged with the operational and IPT risks and opportunities. Take a proactive leadership role in driving progress and mitigating risks where necessary.
4. Risk-Based Assessments:
Collaborate with the IPT lead to agree on risk-based internal assessments, ensuring effective delivery and resolution of any findings. Drive the completion and closure of assessments, ensuring transparency and accountability.
5. Effective Communication and Decision Support:
Analyse and communicate key information to support decision-making processes. Facilitate the clear escalation and resolution of IPT requirements, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.
6. Leadership in Non-Conformance and Failure Management:
Take ownership of non-conformance and failure instances on behalf of the IPT. Work collaboratively with both internal teams and the external supply chain to ensure these issues are managed and resolved to a dependable conclusion.
7. Mentorship and Team Development:
Guide and support junior members of the Assurance Team, helping to build their capabilities and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required:
Essential:
1. Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related fields, ideally with experience in Defence Electronics or similarly complex industries.
2. Quality Management Expertise:
Proven knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 standards, as well as Continuous Improvement principles and methodologies.
3. Development and Design Assurance:
Strong experience in Development and Design Assurance support throughout various stages of the product lifecycle.
4. Application of Quality Tools:
Proficiency in applying quality tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification & Validation, and First Article Inspection.
5. Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking:
Logical and analytical thinker with the ability to convert complex data into actionable solutions that align with business objectives and goals.
6. Communication & Collaboration:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all business functions, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.
7. Time Management and Prioritization:
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, handle multiple responsibilities, and escalate issues when necessary.
8. Experience with Customers and Suppliers:
Demonstrated experience in working directly with customers and suppliers, ensuring quality standards and requirements are consistently met.
Desirable:
1. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and stakeholder management.
2. A proactive, self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and a passion for continuous quality improvement.
