Job Details To work positively with youth work teams in a community setting to engage effectively with young people in their own communities and to contribute towards the learning and development of young people and youth work colleagues using a range of educational practices and approaches. The post has a particular emphasis on Youth Participation, Youth Accreditation and working with young people living in poverty in rural locations. You will be working in a small team of youth workers to plan, organise and evaluate general youth work activities such as arts and crafts sessions, sports events, team challenges, group discussions and project work and more specific activities such as Youth Achievement Award projects and other general learning experiences. You will be responsible in ensuring that the youth work team creates an environment where young people are able to relax, meet friends, develop relationships, have fun and find support through the organisation and delivery of learning and educational youth work activities in a safe, supportive and positive environment. You will be responsible for completing personal evaluation materials and supporting the Community Education Worker in the delivery of learning activities and projects. The Person Desirable: SVQ2 or 3 Youth Work/PDA Youth Work Experience working in a youth work setting. Requirements: It is a requirement of this post that you can engage positively with identified groups of young people affected by social inclusion issues, challenging their behaviour patterns and supporting their learning needs. You must have effective communication skills and be sensitive to the environments you will be working in. You should be confident working directly with young people in a youth work, school, or social work setting, be able to work positively within a team environment and understand group work approaches. You should be IT literate, have a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills and be able to write evaluation and update reports for a variety of audiences. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
