BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. Some of your main responsibilities will include: To have formal responsibility for the daily management including welfare, discipline, training and work programmes of engine room POs/ratings. To assist Deck Engineers with repair/maintenance of Deck and Scientific Machinery and other maintenance duties as directed by Polar Chief Engineer. To take charge of and manage an engine room watch/duty watch at sea and in port. To act as On Scene Commander for emergencies within machinery & technical spaces.
