Senior Practitioner for Section 117 and Complex Care
The Senior Practitioner is the responsible professional who operationally leads section 117 and complex care on behalf of the ICB. The role sits within the Nursing and Quality Directorate and includes CHC and Complex Care. The post holder will have experience of Section 117 aftercare, complex cases, package reviews, and system working. They will have experience of mental health, learning disability, and autism.
Main duties of the job
1. Work with system colleagues to drive performance of section 117 reviews and unblock any barriers.
2. Collaborate with the Head of Quality Assurance in Complex Care to develop a system-wide section 117 register and policy.
3. Attend Section 117 funding panels to ensure packages of care meet appropriate quality and value for money.
4. Work with complex cases such as those subject to Responsible Commissioner disputes, Court of Protection, and complex physical and emotional health.
5. Review non-CHC high-cost packages for quality and value for money.
6. Ensure patient safety and experience are embedded in all commissioning plans and strategies.
7. Collaborate with local authority, provider colleagues, and NHS England.

The ICB operates a flexible approach to working. It is expected that the majority of our staff will work from a combination of home and office (where possible). For staff designated in a hybrid role, they should have a safe and suitable place to work with broadband access and space for a desk, chair, and monitors.
