Job summary The post holder will work with the Heart Valve Specialist nurses to improve care for patients being referred to the hospital for valve procedures. This role is a 1 year fixed term or 1 year secondment opportunity due to the role being part of a 1 year funded pilot by NHS England. The role will include clinical audit, pre-assessment and working alongside the Structural team and Cardiothoracic Surgical team to prepare patients for review or their procedures. It is an opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to expand their knowledge of Structural Heart Valve disease and the various procedures that may be offered to treat these patients. Main duties of the job Main Duties Your main duties within the Catheter Lab would be to care for patients referred with heart valve disease on both the Cardio-thoracic surgical pathway as well as the Cardiology pathway. You will help collect and input data to the national audit for Structural patients, undertake pre-assessment or assist in Consultant clinics, in addition to requesting/following up investigations for the patients on the various structural pathways. You will work closely with the Heart Valve Disease CNS, in addition to working closely with the Cath Lab teams, Cardiothoracic teams, outpatient clinic teams. Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme.
