Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent and temporary Band 6 Post on the Acute Floor at Calderdale Royal Hospital. Main duties of the job You will be able to develop skills and knowledge in Acute Medicine, leadership, assessment, caring for the acutely ill patient, and coordinating the patient journey through the unit. You will be able to acquire skills in staff management; inclusive of probationary management, incident investigations, roster management, assessing students and supporting new starters, appraisals, audits, service improvements and initiatives. About us We are a dynamic and supportive team. We have 60 Acute Medical Beds across 4 wards on one floor. The unit is ever changing, fast paced and forward thinking. Promoting quality and safety and helping to improve the patient experience. We have a strong senior team composing two Band 7 Nurses, and 9 Band 6 Nurses with extensive experience in Acute Medical Nursing. We lead a diverse and forward thinking team of Band 5 Nurses and Band 4 Nursing Associates. We also have Trainee Nursing Associates, Health Care Assistants and Apprentices. We regularly support student nurses on their learning journey. We offer 6 months probationary support, with training opportunities to develop your Acute Skills further. You will be supported by an established Band 6 Nurse and have a supernumerary period, in the early months of your employment. You will have monthly 1-1 meetings with one of the Band 7s, and an annual appraisal.
