Job Overview
Reporting initially to the Head of Quality, the Goods Inwards Inspector will take ownership of the client’s Metrology Room, advising on additional equipment needs to best support the business, and maintaining equipment condition and calibration to high standards.
Supporting the Supply Chain Team, this role ensures that purchased parts meet key design characteristics and that newly designed parts are evaluated against all drawing requirements for Production Part Approval (PPAP).
As the subject matter expert in metrology, the inspector will advise on inspection and measurement strategies, lead inspection activities for both current production and new parts, update inspection control plans, report nonconformity, and support quality investigations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the setup of the new goods inwards inspection area by advising on equipment needs.
* Maintain the condition and calibration of inspection equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
* Use visual management techniques to organize workflows and prevent nonconforming material from entering production.
* Manage inspection workload amid shifting priorities.
* Meet daily inspection targets in alignment with broader business goals.
* Inspect incoming parts and materials per control plans and specifications, updating control plans as needed.
* Conduct visual inspections and measurements for the production line and engineering teams.
* Support Supplier Quality Engineer and Supply Chain Team with sample inspections for PPAP.
* Safeguard “Golden Samples” and “Boundary Samples” for future reference.
* Reject nonconforming materials, providing detailed observations to drive investigations forward.
* Communicate non-conformances to relevant internal stakeholders.
* Document inspection outcomes and complete reports.
* Implement a system to track equipment loans, ensuring accountability for safekeeping and return.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive experience with various inspection methods and equipment, including CMM, FARO, and LASER scanning, and surface roughness measurement.
* Expertise in GD&T.
* Proficient in interpreting 2D and 3D technical drawings.
* Competency in Microsoft Office or similar software.
* Effective team player and collaborator.
* Flexibility in working hours to support production as needed.
* Skilled in presenting data accurately and effectively.
* Ability to plan, prioritize, and work autonomously
