HALO (Hostile Artillery Locating System) is a state-of-the-art long-range acoustic weapon locating system designed to meet the increasing threat of electronic warfare based targeting and anti-radar weapon systems countering radar-based weapon locating systems.
We are recruiting for two Electronics Engineers to be part of a team supporting our next generation Hostile Artillery Locating System development.
Starting at the beginning of the engineering lifecycle you will assist with requirement and architecture definition and maturation, design new PCB level electronics to work alongside COTS modules and work with the wider project team to support integration and qualification.
What you’ll do as an Electronics Engineer:
* Development of hardware solutions to include the design of in-house PCBs
* Supporting Systems Engineers develop requirements and architecture
* Supporting the integration of hardware, firmware and software
* Supporting qualification activities
* Supporting trials proving activities
* Fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management, and providing plans and progress reports
* Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers to resolve technical issues
You really must have:
* Minimum of a BTEC, HND or Apprenticeship in an Electronics based Engineering course
* Knowledge of all stages of the engineering development lifecycle
* Familiarity with circuit design (schematic capture) and simulation tools
* Practical experience of Hardware, Firmware & Software Integration of Microprocessor Based designs
* Integrating in-house designs with COTS modules (power supplies, single board computers, RF interfaces)
* Practical experience of debugging, testing and verifying new designs
* A methodical approach to the full hardware design lifecycle, working to a structured hardware process
* DFx knowledge specifically Design for EMC
* Ability to schedule work and manage time in keeping with project timescales and budgets
* Ability to attend the Basildon site regularly for testing and integration activities
It would be nice if you had:
* Domain experience in low noise analogue electronics
