Job Title: Catchment Risk Assessor
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Location: Fulbourn Cambridge
Travel: Occasional travel to the Staffs region will be required
To complete risk assessments from catchment to consumer to record and identify risks which will feed into the Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP). It is a varied role involving catchment investigation and management activities to support our commitment to protect raw water quality, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enabling improvements in water quality risk management, from catchment to consumer. The role is a mixture of field based and desk-based activities, to capture, analyse and interpret data. It will require effective collaborative working relationships with the relevant operational teams in the Company to support effective reviews, audits and updates of all Drinking Water Safety Plans.
The Role
* You will apply source pathway receptor principles and produce risk assessments for land use activities in our catchments.
* You’ll identify key sources of risk to our drinking water quality, and work with the wider business to identify mitigation actions required and develop an associated plan.
* You’ll help to produce reports on our catchment management activities, including input into drinking water safety plans (DWSPs).
* You’ll collect in-catchment Water quality samples and manage hydrometric data.
* You’ll collate, analyse and interpret monitoring data to accurately determine sources of pollution.
* You’ll have a close working relationship with catchment advisors and engagement with landowners and other stakeholders in the catchment with schemes to protect water quality.
* You’ll provide technical support such as engaging with regulators and landowners and assisting the business during pollution events.
* You will raise awareness with internal stakeholders, carry out audit programmes, improving the systems for risk capture and verification and utilising system outputs to support planned investment.
* You will assist with the production of reports both internally and externally.

What You’ll Need
* Due to being across multiple locations, a full UK driving license is required.
* Degree in relevant subject or significant experience in a similar role.
* Knowledge of risk assessment processes.
* Ideally catchment or DWSP experience.
* Familiarity with Water Quality Regulation.
* Understanding of water pollution pathways and source protection measures (desirable).
* Understanding of practical application of water treatment processes (desirable).
* Understanding of water network operations (desirable).
* Ability to communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders.
* Able to competently use Arc GIS mapping systems
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
