Theatre Care Assistant - Emergency Theatre
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust
University Hospitals Dorset is looking to recruit motivated people to join our expanding Theatre Department delivering a 24 hour service as a Theatre Care Assistant.
Within the department, we offer great opportunities with an extensive educational program, including the development of our Theatre Care Assistants, such as level 3 apprenticeships in Perioperative care and Operative Department Practitioner Apprenticeships.
We pride ourselves on our friendly working environment and our desire to lead on best practice in the perioperative setting. If you have the drive we are looking for to join our friendly and supportive team, then our Theatres Department is the place for you.
We offer a range of specialities across both sites where you will become a valued member of our team. Full training will be given, and your peers, senior staff, and the rest of the multidisciplinary team will support you to learn new skills and expand your practice. After which, you will progress to a band 3 Theatre Care Assistant on completion of a care certificate.
Please be aware that this role is a support worker role and not a healthcare assistant role. It has limited patient contact, and direct patient care responsibilities will involve supporting the theatre team within the circulating role and daily running of the theatre environment.
Informal visits are welcomed.

About us
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
UHD is investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following the merger and the New Hospital Programme.
This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long-term. Recruiting leaders interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at the interview.
There is a planned move for this service anticipated during December 2025, when this role and base of work will relocate to Royal Bournemouth site. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance/reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
