Job Title: Senior Data QA Tester

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Data QA Tester to join our Royal London Core Engineering Team. The Senior QA Tester plays an important role responsible for Data Warehouse testing across data platforms, such as the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). You will have responsibility for executing the Data Product Testing & Quality Assurance (QA) strategy as well as configuring Test Environments to support UAT. This role works closely with the Data Automation, CIH and Data Solutions teams to ensure data is appropriately tested and available in non-production environments. You will also be responsible for ensuring test plans / test cases are written and documented appropriately for Data Warehouse / Lakehouse development and overseeing both BAU and Change QA testing of data products for both insights and digital engagement. Collaborating closely with key partners in Group Technology and advising senior stakeholders on complex Testing / QA issues, acting as a role model for QA testing across the Group.
About the role
* Input and lead on sections of the EDP Data Testing Strategy & EDP Test Environments Strategy
* Support and develop a team of QA testers to deliver the team’s objectives
* Design and execute a wide range of testing techniques and communicate test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Identify defects, alert the business to them, and help to prioritise them based on defect severity
* Awareness of non-functional testing techniques
* Provide in-depth knowledge of data warehouse testing techniques and bring best practice to the team and the wider Group.
* Ensure a robust approach to documentation in line with testing standards
* Contribute to the development of the long-term test automation roadmap based on strategic commitments, business objectives, emerging technologies, and regulatory landscape
* Ensure the use of Automated testing where appropriate
* Liaise with other disciplines to help shape requirements, mapping, modelling, development work
* Static testing of requirements including mapping and modelling and providing feedback/highlighting issues early in the delivery life cycle
* Ability to understand/interpret complex requirements and analyse large data sets
* Responsible for ensuring all test governance documentation is in place and signed off by project and senior stakeholders
About you
* Expert understanding of data warehouse testing and ETL processes especially in support of targeted data product testing
* Good understanding of cloud data engineering technologies including: Spark, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps (ADO)
* Experience of CI/CD and CT pipelines and ‘Shift left’ DevOps covering Code Quality, Unit and Regression Testing
* Experience of test automation frameworks, such as Pytest
* Understanding of Logical and Physical data models within an Enterprise Data Platform
* Experience with cloud-based data storage and data processing platforms such as Microsoft Azure
* Understanding of data security and privacy regulations
* Experience of managing multiple stakeholders
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills
* Ability to think strategically and communicate a test approach effectively
