Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Supervising Social Worker to join our fostering agency. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and supervising foster carers, ensuring that the children and young people in their care are provided with a safe, nurturing, and stable environment.
Working closely with foster carers and a multidisciplinary team, the Supervising Social Worker will help develop and maintain high-quality placements, promote the well-being of children, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Job Description:
1. Manage a caseload within the framework of supervision to effectively meet the needs of children and foster carers in line with national minimum standards.
2. Ensure that information systems and records are effectively maintained to provide up-to-date and accurate information upon which decisions can be made.
3. Maintain a personal awareness of legislation, agency policies, and procedures, acting in line with these to ensure a high quality of service delivery.
4. Attend regular training and compile a portfolio to evidence CPD in line with the professional capabilities’ framework.
5. Provide the agency with high-quality assessments of backup carers, long-term matching, and any other appropriate assessments within the role.
6. Provide foster carers with a high standard of professional support, guidance, and monitoring.
7. Represent the agency in statutory meetings and work in partnership with the team around the child to promote good outcomes.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide Chrysalis Care foster carers with both individual and group support and guidance and oversee and manage foster placements.
2. Visit foster carers every four weeks and provide appropriate support up to 12 families & complete timely monthly reports and upload to the database.
3. Maintain telephone contact with foster carers as appropriate.
4. Undertake annual review meetings and complete a report for the annual review of foster carers and present to the fostering panel.
5. Attend and participate in reviews, planning meetings, and any other local authority meetings that may be required and represent Chrysalis Care at such meetings.
6. Support Chrysalis Care’s training strategy. Ensure that foster carers have a training and development profile that is kept up-to-date, assisting each foster carer to access appropriate training whether in-house or externally. Support new foster carers within the first 12 months of their approval to gain their TSDS.
7. Ensure that Care Plans are adhered to.
8. Liaise and consult with other professionals involved in the care of the child.
9. Prepare for and undertake monthly visits to foster carers and complete monthly reports and risk assessments as required by the agency, Local Authorities, and the courts.
10. Advise children and young people of their rights and assist them in implementing the complaints procedure as necessary.
11. Assist with the preparation and delivery of support groups and skills to foster training sessions.
12. Undertake any other duties which may be appropriate depending upon the post holder’s expertise, knowledge, experience, and skills, in keeping with the level of responsibility afforded. Work flexibly to accommodate the needs of the panel, support groups, and out-of-hours work as required.
13. Undertake at least two unannounced visits to foster carers per year.
14. Attend the office at least 1 day per week for social worker office cover, plus attend social work practice meetings fortnightly and monthly team meetings.
15. Be part of the out-of-hours on-call rota system.
Minimum Requirements:
* MUST HOLD VALID FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE
