The role of GIS Consultant is a pivotal part of our UK digital strategy, which is driving location intelligence across diverse projects. This expansion of our Geospatial team within the Digital Advisory service line reflects WSP’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional results. You'll be joining a growing team dedicated to integrating digital solutions and advancing our capabilities in geospatial analytics.
As a GIS Consultant with WSP, you’ll provide digital support to multi-disciplinary projects, integrating cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional results. Working under the guidance of an Associate / Associate Director, you’ll manage and analyse digital data from a variety of sources, preparing GIS data, managing data efficiently, conducting analysis, and producing both web applications and hardcopy maps.
You will be pivotal in delivering project-related tasks, ensuring they meet budget, deadlines, and quality targets, consistently exceeding client expectations while promoting and marketing our services internally and externally.
Collaboration is at the heart of our Geospatial team within the Digital Advisory service line. Your strong teamworking and communication skills will be essential as you explain intricate GIS processes to colleagues and clients with varying levels of digital knowledge. We seek innovators who stay ahead of technological trends and procedures, proposing the best solutions for each unique case.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are imperative, whether producing a hardcopy map or a sophisticated web application through ArcGIS Enterprise or Online or a complex FME Workbench.
You will have the opportunity to continue to develop new skills and stay updated with the latest technology alongside your GIS and Data and Digital colleagues.
Responsibilities will include:
* Undertake GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing
* Assist in developing efficient working practices to provide industry leading, best value services to our clients
* Develop and maintain high quality procedures on datasets, procedures and figures
* Liaise with internal and external clients
* Provide GIS support to all areas of the business as required
* Provide GIS technical mentoring to junior GIS staff
* Contribute to the technical development of the GIS team through sharing ideas and innovations
* Undertake own continuous professional development.
* Occasional travel to other offices for business development and project meetings
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Core principles of GIS and GI data management and an ability to apply them especially with regards to Enterprise Geodatabases
* ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and ESRI Field Apps, including:
o Knowledge of the integration of the platforms
o Configuration of existing web applications such as Dashboards, Web Applications or Survey123
* Understanding of relational databases and geodatabase design and the ability to deploy them
* Knowledge of UK GIS datasets both proprietary and open source
* Some previous experience of GIS project management
* Customer focussed approach to quality and service
* Self-motivated and to show initiative
* Proactive approach to developing new skills and keeping up to date with technology
* Able to identify potential to add value by integrating GIS processes and procedures with those of other teams within the Digital Advisory service line such as Data Analysts
