Climate Risk Manager
Salary: £42,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid (Office: West Bromwich)
The West Brom are looking to recruit a Climate Risk Manager who will Report into the Senior Manager Governance and Credit Risk Oversight. The Climate Risk Manager will support the Society’s objectives in relation to Climate Risk management, in line with regulatory requirement, industry best practice and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Society’s research and strategy on climate change risk management. Identifying and quantifying climate-related risks and opportunities, including financial, credit, operational, and reputational risks.
* Act as the Society’s expert in relation to potential impacts of climate change, demonstrating specialist depth and breadth of understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practice. Attend external meetings and forums as and when required to represent the Society.
* Integrate climate change considerations into all facets of the Society's business, including lending, investment, and operations, ensuring the establishment of a sustainable and resilient business model.
* Ownership of the Climate Change Risk Management Framework, and the climate sections of the Annual Report & Accounts and ICAAP.
* Management of climate disclosures, enhancing disclosures to meet evolving reporting standards including TCFD, ISSB, and emerging sustainability standards, including “nature” as an emerging risk.
* Lead the development and implementation of the Society's Net Zero Transition Plan.
* Quantify the risk of Expected Credit loss (ECL) and financial risk appetite across various climate scenarios, monitoring exposure, and proposing actions to manage risks, presenting Climate Risk analysis and model output to Committees and validating the Climate Model annually.
* Present research findings and undertake meaningful analysis as directed, recommending solutions and providing horizon scanning to the Board, Risk Committee, other governance committees, to inform and influence strategic decision-making.

Skills and Experience Required:
* Understanding of the potential impact of climate change
* Highly numerate and analytical
* Some Exposure to data mining or statistical software preferred (i.e. SAS, SQL or equivalent)
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Knowledge of Financial Services
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to tailor messaging to suit audience
* Highly organised and able to meet tight deadlines, prioritising where required
* High level of attention to detail enabling the production of analyses and reports with a consistently high degree of accuracy
