Location: Bedford (Head Office), London, SE and surrounding areas About Us and the Role Building Transformation are a Bedford-based market-leading specialist external building and roof maintenance service provider. We provide our clients with a complete external building fabric maintenance solution throughout the UK. We work on large commercial, listed, tall, challenging to access and industrial buildings, undertaking planned roof maintenance and refurbishment projects. Our service delivery spans across the hotel sector and MOD estate, so you must be able to work in high security environments. DBS checks will apply. Within these sectors, we currently undertake a wide variety of roofing works including planned roof and gutter maintenance solutions; repairs; replacement and lining; liquid-based roof coatings; roof sheet/cladding sheet replacement; as well as some more traditional leadworks and tile replacement works. Key Responsibilities of the Role Effectively deliver a range of different traditional roofing and repair projects. Support and update the business with programme and delivery requirements. Support in the pre-surveys and measure and source materials for roof works, where required. Carry out roof inspections documenting roofing failures as required. Assist with the measurement and specification development for roofing and repair projects. Assist with setting up, effective programme planning and agree project delivery and safety plans. Undertake technical inspections through-out a project and ensure all quality control checks are in place. Write reports as required, and update on progress throughout the duration of a project. Support with the technical and quality management targets with sub-contractors. Assist with the development of technical repairs, product search and replacement specifications where needed. Ensure implementation of correct H & S standards and safe working practices. About You We are looking for an ambitious and team-orientated individual to join us as a Roofing Operative, to help support our growing requirements for specialist refurbishment and maintenance projects. Ideally, you will have experience of industrial and commercial roofing as a primary discipline. In addition, any experience that you bring in a variety of trade skills that can help solve problems across multiple building materials would be advantageous. To be successful, you will bring: 5 years roofing experience with industry / professional training relating to the job role. (Minimum NVQ Level 2 roofing related is ideal but not essential). Knowledge of working with sheets, cladding tiles or leadwork to undertake roofing repair, roof coatings, gutter lining or replacement systems. Ideally hold a Working at Height certificate. Sound knowledge of H&S practices and risk management. Experience in the use of both self-propelled and tracked MEWPS. A positive, flexible and adaptable mindset, a commitment to quality workmanship and the ability to work transparently and openly in everything you do, bringing excellent attention to detail. Customer service focused experience, working with a wide range of stakeholders. Excellent communication skills. Confidence reading technical drawings, measuring and sourcing materials for works. Creativity, good problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills are essential. Happy liaising with customers and providing best practice guidance where needed. The Offer This role is offered on a permanent and full-time basis (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday. We will however also consider applications for self-employment on a long-term basis. A starting salary of £36,500 per annum (self-employed daily rate to be agreed). 22 days holiday allowance, plus the Bank Holidays. A 3-month probationary period.
