The role of the Account Development Director is to build and grow existing client relationships in order to identify opportunities to increase revenue and profits, achieving financial sales and revenue targets, and further cultivating existing accounts. You will be responsible for leading and managing existing client relationships to drive business expansion and ensure client satisfaction. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the business development of existing clients, overseeing all aspects of account development, developing and executing account plans, setting account targets and objectives, identifying areas of account growth and collaborating with internal teams to develop client accounts to meet annual objectives. As well as, leading BD and client-relationship management, the accounts director will track new markets and trends, recommend new services, grow new strategic partnerships, identify and manage new client opportunities, write proposals, and help guide the long-term objectives to meet business objectives. Duties and responsibilities General Serve as the face of tranScrip, representing the company’s culture, vision, mission and values. Builds relationships across internal teams to guide sustainable, long-term growth. Fosters and works to maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture across BD team. Client Relationship Management Drive increasing business revenue, identifying and developing new opportunities and building and expanding the presence of the tranScrip brand. Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients. Serve as the point of contact for current and future client enquiries, requests, and escalations. Understand client needs, objectives, and expectations to deliver tailored solutions and exceed client satisfaction. Evaluate existing partnerships to determine strengths and opportunities. Business Development Commercial development of existing and new accounts including account plans, regular account reviews, identifying and progressing opportunities. Identify opportunities for organic growth within existing client accounts. Collaborate with the Business Development, Scientific, Medical and Regulatory Affairs teams to identify and pursue new client business opportunities. Working with BD Operations, Project Delivery and SME’s, lead the Proposal and Contract Review and Sign Off, including project scoping, proposal and pricing development. In partnership with Marketing, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and project operations teams, developing and delivering pitch presentations and account management review meetings with clients. Identify opportunities to conduct webinars and presentations to increase tranScrip profile and standing in the sector. Attend targeted industry conferences to further develop relationships and identify leads. Project Management Oversee the successful execution of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Partnering and coordinating with internal teams (e.g., project managers, marketing, scientists, data analysts) to deliver high-quality results that meet or exceed client expectations. Anticipate and address any issues or challenges that may arise during project execution. Strategic Planning Work with senior management to develop strategic plans and objectives for client accounts, tracking new markets and emerging trends, recommending new products and services, propose and develop new strategic partnerships. Provide input and insights into the development of company-wide strategies to drive growth and profitability. Financial Management Develop and manage account budgets, ensuring profitability and cost effectiveness. Monitor financial performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed. Experience Proven experience in account management or business development within a contract research organisation (CRO), or other pharmaceutical services organisation is essential. Additional experience in the broader pharmaceutical industry would be advantageous. Demonstrated success in building and maintaining client relationships, driving business growth, and meeting revenue targets. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, business administration, marketing). Personal attributes Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strategic and analytic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective business strategies. Excellent interpersonal skills. High level of attention to detail.
