The role…
The Global Sales Director is responsible for leading and managing the sales strategy and operations across GlobalData’s institutional investor audience, a newly formed sub-division within GlobalData’s professional services division. The team manages all GlobalData’s institutional investor clients and is responsible for selling all research and data into this audience, including GlobalData.TSLombard’s macro research and GlobalData’s fundamental company data across different sectors. This is a key growth market for GlobalData and a high priority for significant revenue growth.
This role involves developing and executing sales plans, driving revenue growth especially cross sells of data into existing clients, managing a high-performing sales and account management team, and building strong relationships with key customers and partners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales leadership, a deep understanding of the global institutional investor landscape, and the ability to work cross-functionally to achieve business objectives and drive revenue growth.
What you’ll be doing…
1. Sales Strategy and Planning:
o Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share growth globally for institutional investors.
o Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive landscape.
o Establish sales goals, quotas, and targets for the region.
2. Team Leadership and Development:
o Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales and account management team globally.
o Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
o Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching.
3. Sales Operations:
o Oversee the sales pipeline, forecast accuracy, and sales performance metrics.
o Implement and optimize sales processes and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
o Collaborate with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align strategies and ensure customer satisfaction.
o Ensure the accurate and consistent use of Salesforce.com.
4. Market and Customer Insights:
o Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
o Gather and analyse customer feedback to identify needs and improve product offerings and services.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
o Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to the executive team.
o Use data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive sales strategies.
What we look for…
* 10+ years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
* Strong understanding of the global institutional investor audience, specifically hedge funds, pension funds, asset managers, private banks, family offices, etc.
* Strong understanding of macro/investment research and how institutional investors use it to influence investment decisions.
* Strong understanding of data and how investors use data to make investment decisions.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Can energise and lead people to go the extra mile and accomplish goals.
* Creates an inclusive environment where everyone can achieve their best.
