We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success. Salary Research Assistant: £32,296 - £33,232 per annum. Research Associate: £34,866 - £36,924 per annum. The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team to oversee the day to day running of the NIHR funded INCLUDE study (Understanding and developing father Inclusive Practice in Children's Social Care). The project takes a mixed methods approach (systematic review, qualitative work and co-production workshops) and utilised participatory methods throughout, working alongside experts by experience. You will work with the project lead, Dr Hayley Alderson. The project is funded by the National institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). Currently, within the children’s social care practice landscape fathers are not systematically included in child welfare interventions, often being described as an ‘unheard gender’. If fathers are to be better engaged and supported by social care, the style, content and approach of practitioners need to be adapted inclusive of considering how cultural conceptions of fathering should be integrated into the intervention design. INCLUDE aims to understand the support needs of fathers whose children are involved with children’s social care and develop novel community-informed ‘good practice guidance' that can be delivered by social care teams to promote father inclusive practice. The study will take a case study approach across multiple sites in England. Find out more about the Faculty of Medical Sciences here: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/medical-sciences/.
