Anderson Knight is currently recruiting an Assistant Buyer for one of our clients in Glasgow City Centre.
Your main responsibility will be to support the procurement team in sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services essential for production.
The Assistant Buyer will help ensure timely supply at the best possible value, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and contributing to operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in sourcing raw materials, components, and supplies in line with production schedules.
2. Process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner using the company’s ERP/MRP system.
3. Track and monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery and escalate delays where necessary.
4. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, supplier agreements, and delivery details.
5. Liaise with suppliers to resolve pricing, quality, or delivery issues.
6. Support the Buyer in supplier evaluations, negotiations, and onboarding of new vendors.
7. Monitor stock levels and raise purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.
8. Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to align procurement with operational needs.
9. Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
10. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. Previous experience in a purchasing or supply chain support role, preferably within manufacturing.
2. Understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
3. Strong administrative and organizational skills.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage).
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
6. Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
7. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
