Hold a relevant AQF Certificate III or equivalent, or higher qualification. Alternatively, 12 months of relevant work experience or part-time equivalence in lieu of the qualification is acceptable.
Job Description:
Nursing Support Workers provide limited patient care under the direction of nursing staff and support participants with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting individuals in maintaining their independence and improving their overall quality of life.
Main Responsibilities:
* Assist individuals with daily activities and direct care as per their support plan.
* Facilitate personal care needs such as showering, dressing, and eating.
* Perform home-based tasks such as food preparation.
* Monitor the safety and well-being of participants, reporting any concerns to the Care Service Manager.
* Provide companionship, emotional support, and friendship.
* Support participants in communication and mobility needs.
* Encourage participation in age-appropriate activities, including employment and community access.
* Participate in planning the care of individuals.
* Follow therapy plans and assist with rehabilitation exercises.
* Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to support participants’ goals.
* Ensure documentation is completed accurately and timely.
* Adhere to medication administration policies and work health and safety procedures.
Personal Care Tasks Responsibilities:
* Supervise and assist with bathing and personal hygiene.
* Assist with mobility and the use of aids/appliances.
* Monitor well-being and provide support with exercise and therapy programs.
Work Health and Safety Responsibilities:
* Participate in WHS training and consultative processes.
* Report hazards and incidents promptly.
* Ensure safe practices and equipment usage.
