Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Health and Safety Coordinator at William Hackett in Alnwick, Northumberland. The H&S Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing health and safety compliance, conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, providing training to staff, and ensuring a safe work environment in alignment with regulatory standards.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
2. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
4. Provide training and education to employees on health and safety matters.
5. Investigate and report on accidents or incidents in the workplace, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions of both internal and external non-conformances.
6. Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify areas for improvement.
7. Manage and maintain health and safety records and documentation.
8. Intervene in correcting unsafe work practices that may be going on in the organisation.
9. Lead on safety behavioural practices and collaborate with management and staff to develop and maintain a positive safety culture.
10. Support and coordinate ISO internal and external audit requirements.
11. Monitor employees’ and employer’s adherence to safety policies and/or guidelines.
12. Keep record of all safety-related issues within the organisation and ensure that corrective measures are taken.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in occupational health and safety or a related field
* At least 3 years experience in health and safety coordination
* In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and educate employees on safety procedures
* Health and Safety Regulations Compliance and Implementation
* Ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation plans
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with safety management software
* Detail-oriented, with strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure a safe work environment for all employees
Preferred Skills
* Lean Manufacturing: familiarisation in this methodology, a H&S Coordinator assists in optimising production processes, carrying out risk assessments, safe systems of work and SOPs further reducing the risk of accidents & incidents which also has a positive impact on waste reduction, subsequently increasing value.
* Quality, environmental & management Control Systems: Oversight of company ISO standards, incorporating both internal and regulatory, and is managed through detailed assessments with the broader management team, aimed at improving processes.
* Analytical skills are essential for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving quality issues, with statistical methods and team collaboration maintaining manufacturing excellence.
