ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role requires a meticulous, proactive professional to navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance for food supplements in both UK and EU. You will act as a bridge between regulatory frameworks and internal stakeholders.
Technical & Regulatory Compliance
1. Provide detailed regulatory guidance and technical support for internal stakeholders.
2. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to business practices.
3. Coordinate and manage product approvals (SIPS/MIPS) and schedule updates with the Soil Association, via email and the SA online portal.
Artwork & Labelling Compliance
1. Manage label creation, review, and updates, ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations.
2. Coordinate translation projects for labelling and marketing materials.
3. Approve printer’s proofs and monitor artwork through the InMotion system.
New Product Development (NPD)
1. Validate compliance of formulas in the UK and EU, label copy, and front-panel claims for new product launches.
2. Check claims against health and nutrition claims regulations and industry guidelines.
3. Oversee sales banners and front-panel compliance.
Support for Import/Export Logistics
1. Provide technical advice on Products of Animal Origin (POAO) and composite goods.
2. Support import and export logistics by providing commodity codes.
Training & Documentation
1. Collaborate on creating Labelling Guidelines to ensure cohesive and consistent product representation.
Ad Hoc Support
1. Perform additional regulatory or technical tasks as required to support business goals.
Qualifications and Experience Required
1. Qualification in Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety, or a related subject matter.
2. Strong understanding of regulations regarding food supplements and usage of claims in the EU and UK.
3. Experience in creating product specifications and formula sheets.
4. Good understanding of food industry standard practices.
5. Experience with Amazon trading is desirable.
6. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
7. Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and effective time management.
8. Ability to communicate effectively across different departments (e.g., NPD, QA, Design) to ensure business needs are met.
9. Experience with food supplement product notification processes in EU Member States is desirable.
10. Experience in cosmetics regulatory landscape is desirable.
11. Advanced IT skills.
