Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Control Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of their credit control team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage key financial processes and build strong relationships with customers and the team around you. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient collection of outstanding debts while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.
What you'll do:
* Lead, mentor, and manage a team of credit controllers, providing guidance and support.
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the credit control process, ensuring all outstanding invoices are followed up on in a timely manner.
* Monitor overdue accounts, ensuring that payment terms are adhered to and liaising with customers to resolve issues.
* Approve customer credit limits and payment terms in consultation with senior management and the finance team.
* Prepare and present regular reports on the status of outstanding debts, cash flow forecasts, and collection activities.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customers, ensuring effective communication regarding payment terms, overdue invoices, and disputes.
* Ensure compliance with company credit policies and financial regulations.
* Proactively identify areas for improvement within the credit control process and recommend solutions.
What you bring:
* Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, particularly in credit control.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with customers.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Xero).
* Knowledge of credit risk management and legal recovery procedures.
* Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
* Leadership and team management experience.
* A professional qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., AAT and ACCA) is desirable but not essential.
