Role Overview:
The Process Engineer will support the Process Engineering Team Lead to provide process engineering expertise to Maintenance, Projects, Production, EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and Development departments within a cGMP environment. The Process Engineer will also identify and manage projects to improve manufacturing and energy efficiency to meet the business needs (including specific project requirements to time, quality, cost and safety). This position will also provide, when required, management of external and daywork contract project resource to meet project objectives.
Core Responsibilities:
* Provide Process Engineering Resource for Capital Projects (e.g. Process Flow, layouts, designs, capex investment cases) and Process/Plant Trouble Shooting as required.
* Work closely with other Veranova Scotland Departments to assess and prioritise opportunities to improve processing efficiency, Right First time, environmental/health/safety/quality performance, and labour efficiency through engineering improvements.
* Support small teams delivering improvements utilising process, maintenance, electrical and instrumentation engineering resource.
* Evaluate costs across Scotland (Waste, Utility, Raw Materials) to reduce overall demand, deliver improvements and drive cost reduction across the business.
* Develop systems for collecting and analysing production data to drive overall Scotland efficiency (yield, cycle time opportunities).
* Evaluate and cost engineering work, modifications or proposals as required by other departments. Raise expenditure authorisations and carry out engineering and improvement work within agreed revenue and capital expenditure budgets and approvals.
* Develop visual management tools for Veranova Scotland to enable quick and improved decision making.
* Support technical transfers by completing IDEA and EVALUATE stage gates to enable a high degree in confidence in successful transfers.
* Observe all statutory and Company regulations regarding equipment design, installation, safety, health, welfare, and other matters, especially cGMP.
* Work effectively with other factory managers. Communicate and negotiate with suppliers, contractors, local government officials, factory inspectors and regulatory body representatives/auditors etc.
* Advise management of new technology available and support internal groups as subject matter expect.
* Support project management of projects up to £500,000 in value.
* Project team member for projects up to £2.5 million in value.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful projects.
* Foster a culture of openness and creativity, encouraging diverse perspectives.
* Additional assignments/ duties to support team objective and contribute to the Veranova mission may evolve based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Essential
* Process/Chemical Engineering degree with appropriate training and experience.
* Must have experience of chemical plant unit operations, process scale-up, process improvement and knowledge of service providing equipment.
* Strong commitment to continuous improvement.

* Experience of managing projects.
