Main duties of the job

Assist the General Manager, Business Manager and clinical team, in developing, delivering, implementing and evaluating business plans, ensuring the business planning process contributes to the Trust strategy. This will include presenting to Trust Executive Board as required.
Job responsibilities

This role includes presenting to the Trust Executive Board as required.
Maintaining good working relations with consultants and resident doctors, the candidate will provide direct support to these teams. They will monitor key performance indicators (e.g., length of stay, same day discharge, first to follow ratios) and share these with clinicians to maximise service efficiency. The role involves dealing with, or delegating, all issues related to inpatients, Ambulatory Care, outpatient clinics, cancelled procedures, and Choose and Book.
The candidate will proactively identify changes and improvements in services and act upon these in all areas of work within the service area. They will take an active role in service directorate meetings and other service working groups, leading on specified areas of policy and service development. Where required, they will undertake complaint investigations and draft management responses or interventions.
As the lead for the development of new policies, the candidate will utilize service improvement techniques to develop best models of care. They will ensure that Trust policies are followed and adhered to, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Evidence of significant personal development through formal courses and/or experience.
* Post graduate education or equivalent experience in an area relevant to service improvement.
* Prince 2 or other Project Management qualification.
Experience
* Knowledge of service improvement tools and techniques.
* Proven success in delivering change and performance with and through your management and clinical teams.
* Experience of budget and staff management.
Skills
* Able to build positive relationships with clinicians, managers, colleagues and key stakeholders.
* High standard of verbal and written communication skills.
* Organisationally and politically aware.
* Good analytical skills. Able to analyse reports and data and act on these appropriately.
* Delivery focused, self-motivated and proactive.
* The ability to handle multiple high-profile projects.
* Expertise in Excel and other systems to produce data in diagrammatical format.
* IT Skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
* Experience of successfully managing a budget.
