West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
We are looking to fill 2 (wte) substantive Consultant Histopathologist posts, which have become vacant due to retirement. The working hours expected are 9 AM - 5 PM with some time shifting if agreed locally. The post is based at the Hemel Hempstead site. Appointees will be expected to provide diagnostic surgical pathology services for the Trust, with the distribution of work reflecting service need and specialist interests of the appointee. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a relocation allowance of £12,000 (if required). The Trust has agreed a proposal for up to 1 PA of SPA time/week to be worked flexibly. This change is in line with the Trust's flexible working agenda and recognition of the enormous contribution that this group of staff continues to provide to our staff and patients.
Main Duties of the Job
The appointee will participate in routine reporting of histopathology and possibly diagnostic cytology specimens. The focus will be on Gynae and Skin along with miscellaneous samples. This could be negotiated at the time of the interview. They would be expected to provide cover for the MDT and attend clinical governance meetings. There is no out of hours commitment.

Job Responsibilities
The appointee will join a team of 12 consultants and two clinical fellows and will be expected to contribute to the teaching and supervision of the trainees. The department has subspecialised reporting groups for the major cancer groups. There will be no requirement for cervical cytology and cervical screening histology reporting. CPD registration with the Royal College of Pathologists is expected.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year (London Fringe £149 per annum)
