Senior Project PCS Engineer Energy (North East - Middlesbrough)
The work will be varied and every project a new and exciting opportunity to use and develop different skills, both at a technical level and at a softer project execution interpersonal level.
You will be involved in the design and implementation of a wide range of systems to improve the performance of energy-related industries including control systems, energy management systems, smart grid technologies, renewable energy integration systems, and plant management information systems to name but a few. This role will involve working with industry standards such as IEC 61850 for digital substation automation, ensuring interoperability and efficiency in energy systems.
You will be working with a range of industries and companies such as major utilities, renewable energy providers, oil and gas companies, and energy-intensive manufacturing facilities. All of them require state of the art solutions and first class service in energy efficiency and management. Our technology stack includes leading platforms like Siemens and CopaData, which you will utilise to deliver innovative solutions.
You will be responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of process control solutions focused on energy optimisation and involved in all project lifecycle activities, including fault-finding, the preparation of design specifications and reports, software programming, project execution, testing, installation and commissioning.
Other responsibilities will include providing technical support and consultancy to users internally and externally on energy-related systems and assisting your colleagues in ensuring the successful completion of projects on time, to budget and the relevant level of quality.
You will also be required to complete all tasks in line with the company Quality Management System.
You will be involved in all aspects of projects from the initial requirements gathering, proposal production and the specification through to the design, development and installation of the energy-focused solutions. As part of the engineering teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects, using a variety of manufacturers' software and hardware within various energy sectors.
You will be responsible for maintaining and developing customer relationships in a highly professional manner that enhance the reputation of ITS in the energy industry. This may include providing engineering manpower support to customers under Service Level Agreements for energy management and optimisation systems.
Requirements
1. Detailed experience of the full project life cycle from system specification through design, development, testing (FAT/SAT etc) and on-site commissioning.
2. Development & delivery of detailed design/specification documentation.
3. Knowledge of general IT/OT Technologies and development methodologies.
4. A good appreciation of Control panels, electrical installation and Instrumentation solutions.
5. A Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or relevant discipline.
6. Ability to estimate time and costs for common tasks.
7. Eligible for security clearance checks for access to client sites.
8. Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, CopaData, Emerson (others welcomed).
9. OT Cyber Security.
10. Networks/Firewalls.
11. Functional Safety (TUV).
12. At least 7 years of mainstream PLC/SCADA experience.
13. Experience working in the Energy industry a must, other regulated industries such as Life Sciences, Chemical Manufacturing is also highly desirable.
14. Ability and willingness to adapt to new software systems.
15. Hardworking with a positive attitude to learning new skills.
16. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively both formally and informally, orally and in written English.
