Assistant Housing Standards Officer To provide information and advice to private tenants and landlords about their rights and responsibilities for safe housing. To work with Housing Standards Officers to carry out domestic property assessments and inspections of building works for enforcement purposes, to safeguard the wellbeing of private tenants. Brighter Future www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/jobs-and-careers/employee-benefits.aspx We are recruiting an Assistant Housing Standards Officer to join our busy team to improve living standards, primarily in the private rented sector, but also in social housing and occasionally with vulnerable home owners. We work closely with other enforcement services, Housing Options, Adult Services and Children Services as well as a range of other partners to achieve the best outcomes for residents. Activities that the team delivers include licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation; fire safety in the rented sector; education, engagement, encouragement and enforcement to achieve improved housing standards; and bringing empty homes back into use. Ideally, you will bring your domestic construction knowledge to this role, together with knowledge of tenancy legislation. You will have good ICT skills using Microsoft Office, and possess good problem solving skills, a 'can do' attitude, compassion for people and a commitment to delivering high standards of customer care. You will need good organisational skills and attention to detail. The role will provide the opportunity to work on a diverse range of cases both in the office and on site in people's homes.
