A look into the role…
Our business is growing, and to support our continued investment in our estate, we are now seeking to appoint an additional Property Acquisitions Manager. The successful candidate will work alongside our acquisitions team to acquire long-term, quality freehold or leasehold locations/sites for the Company. Once acquired these sites will either trade within Henderson Retail (Company owned division) or sublet to our retail partners through the Business Development Partnership (BDP) Franchise Scheme.
This role will be very well suited to a candidate with highly developed negotiation and influencing skills and a proven track record of concluding commercial deals and agreements.
Working as Property Acquisitions Manager you will:
* Identify, acquire, and project manage the delivery of quality freehold or leasehold convenience store/supermarket locations in line with the company’s specifications and growth strategy, managing those projects through to contract completion.
* Assess and prepare an overall business case, negotiate and complete all business/legal due diligence associated with the acquisition process. Sites purchased may be suitable for our company owned division Henderson Retail Limited or sublet to one of our franchisee retail partners.
* Use your superb networking skills to identify potential retailers for our franchisee channel in addition to working with our existing retailers on key redevelopment/extension projects.
* Work closely and liaise with key internal departments, chiefly property, finance, sales. In addition, you will liaise with professional advisors such as solicitors, estate agents, property developers and business owners.
Skills for Success
Joining us as Property Acquisitions Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:
* Good standard of education / minimum 4 GCSEs including Mathematics & English OR equivalent.
* Successful track record of concluding commercial deals and agreements (minimum of 2 years relevant experience from within a commercial setting).
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
* As the role involves travel around Northern Ireland, a driving licence is essential.
The essential attributes we’re looking for:
* You will have highly developed negotiation and influencing skills that will be clearly demonstrable from your previous commercial experience.
* You’ll have a strong ability to engage and communicate effectively. We’re looking for someone who is articulate and influential, comfortable presenting prospects, discussing commercial viability and making recommendations at a senior level.
* Strong completer-finisher skills, demonstrating a drive to persevere and ensure a successful conclusion of commercial agreements.
* Having an ‘eye for detail’ is essential, along with a logical, organised and methodical approach.
* The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a desire and tenacity to succeed, responding quickly and confidently to challenges and providing answers to make a compelling business case.
It is desirable if you have:
* An understanding of the NI retail convenience marketplace; knowledge of local planning procedures and possession of good networks within the property industry would be advantageous.
* Experience of producing business plans and reporting on same to Senior Management.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid and flexible working arrangement available.
