IGii have an exciting opportunity for a Reagent Scientist to join their rapidly expanding R&D department. You will join our Sensors team, developing High Sensitivity Low-Cost biosensors on our propriety Gii™ technology. Your purpose in the role You will be responsible for troubleshooting and optimising bioassay reagents whilst running business-as-usual lab experiments and equipment calibration and maintenance. Your main accountabilities will be: Bioreagents Development Characterization and testing Experimental execution Data Analysis Technical Reports What you will do The development of bioreagents involves the following activities: Create in-house bioconjugation protocols Analyse bioconjugates and raw materials to assess purity and yield Develop various immobilisation approaches on Gii surface Develop model assays for bioconjugates in order to assess analyte-binding performance Participate in team meetings and progress updates, presenting results regularly both verbally and in written format. This role will perform lab experiments in a GLP manner. These tasks include: Maintenance and calibration of reagents equipment Creating and reviewing SOP for new reagents equipment Creating and reviewing COSHH forms for a wide range of bioconjugation raw materials Preparing buffered solutions for bioconjugation reactions Perform established bioconjugate analysis including Gel Electrophoresis and UV-VIS Perform established bioconjugate preparation for the Sensors team. Who we are looking for Degree qualified in a relevant scientific discipline. Experience of working in a laboratory operating within GLP guidelines. Experience and knowledge of characterisation techniques used to assess performance of bioassay conjugates. Ability to follow complex protocols accurately and contribute to assay development projects. Experience and understanding of factors important in bioassay reagents preparation Meticulously document for experimental workload. A confident scientific communicator who can demonstrate working with different stakeholders. Training will be provided, any additional skills or experience in the following area will be considered advantageous. Experience within a professional scientific environment in recent years, either as a recent PhD graduate candidate or a holder of master’s degree with through work experience in a similar role. Experience in working within wider R&D projects within bio-functionalisation or assay development. Specific electrochemistry education or work-based experience.
