An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Named Lead for Adult safeguarding in East Sussex Healthcare.
We are a forward-thinking Safeguarding team advocating the Think Family message across all areas. The position will allow a dynamic individual to consider safeguarding vulnerabilities through both an acute and community lens.
The post holder will support trust staff alongside the Head of Safeguarding, Named Nurse Children, and Named Midwife to deliver the Trust’s statutory safeguarding duties.
Main duties of the job
The role will include supporting the team to drive forward the Think Family agenda and training strategies and to assist in providing assurance that all systems and requirements are in place for the safeguarding of adults at risk that come into contact with our Trust and services.
The post holder will provide advanced support, expert assessment, and advice to staff and other professionals to safeguard adults at risk, and will be a highly specialist role model to our staff.
The successful candidate will be expected to have and demonstrate an excellent working knowledge and understanding of the local and national safeguarding agenda to ensure that the Trust is compliant in its safeguarding duties.
The Safeguarding team within the trust comprises Specialist roles across the lifespan, in a Think Family context. The post holder would line manage staff in the adult specialty and would be part of the management team alongside a Named Nurse for Children, Children in Care, and a Named Midwife.
The team sits within the corporate division in recognition that safeguarding may occur in any area. The trust provides the opportunity to work alongside acute and community clinical staff.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered Nurse / or hold another related Professional Qualification (such as a registered Allied Health Professional, Qualified Social Worker)
2. Bachelor of Science (or other related undergraduate degree)
3. Minimum of four years post qualification experience in related field
4. Evidence of master's level learning or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in relevant area
5. Specialist knowledge and application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, DOLs, and other relevant legislation
6. Evidence of continued professional development in relevant area of practice
7. Mentorship or teaching qualification. EG:998 or other relevant teaching qualification
8. Working knowledge of Government legislation i.e. Working Together 2015, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, and Children Act 1989, 2004
Desirable
1. Qualification in counselling and/or supervision
Experience
Essential
1. Previous experience of working in safeguarding adults
2. Experience as clinical and/or safeguarding adults supervision
3. Proven record of good interagency working
4. Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working
5. Demonstrable experience of responding to complex cases with sensitivity and good partnership working
6. Fully conversant with the national safeguarding agenda
