Finance Business Partner
Location: Hybrid with regular UK travel (ideally based on the M5 Corridor, South West)
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000

Mainstay Recruitment is currently supporting a key client in the search for a dynamic and experienced Finance Business Partner. This is a critical leadership role focused on embedding effective finance business partnering across operational units and driving financial performance.
The Role
In this role, you’ll shape and define what great finance business partnering looks like. Working closely with business units and departments, you'll champion a culture of collaboration and accountability, positioning finance as a strategic enabler of operational success.
You will:
Lead on the preparation of high-quality monthly management accounts, reporting, and analysis to support executive decision-making.
Drive budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecast processes in close collaboration with budget holders.
Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting frameworks to ensure visibility of financial and operational performance.
Partner with commercial and project teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, cost control, and work-in-progress tracking.
Promote timely billing and cash collection, resolving issues proactively and communicating key insights to senior stakeholders.
Contribute to performance reviews, strategic planning, and operational decision-making at a senior level.Beyond operational finance, you'll support the statutory accounts process, uphold financial compliance, and liaise with external parties including auditors and tax advisors. You’ll ensure processes meet both group and regulatory standards, setting the tone for financial integrity across the business.
This is also a leadership position, offering the opportunity to manage a small team, support change initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and controls.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least five years of post-qualification experience.
You’ll bring:
A solid track record in finance business partnering, ideally within defence, infrastructure, or asset-intensive industries.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and a commercial mindset.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
Advanced analytical ability and Excel skills, with experience using SAP or similar ERP systems being highly desirable.Travel & Location
This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work from home, however, regular travel across the UK will be required. You will need to attend the Birmingham office twice a month and visit operational sites spanning from Gloucestershire to Cornwall and Plymouth. The role would be well suited to someone based along the M5 Corridor in the South west.
